Nederland Dans Theater

There is one thing that is really annoying me about this new, and close to perfect, opera house here in Oslo.(architects: snøhetta)
The time of strolling down five minutes before a opera or ballet without booking a ticket, like I could in the old opera, is over. I suddenly have to take in the effects of getting a bigcitymonsteroperahouse..
Yesterday they released the tickets for next season, and besides some contemporary pieces on the small stage, I haven't been able to get a single ticket the previous seasons. So now I was prepared, hungry for ballet, in front of the computer. Deciding what i I want to see next winter is so grown up and strange to me, but..
The choice : NDT in November, I can't wait to see this company that made my jaws drop to the floor as a kid (then seeing them on TV) and I finally get to see the big stage in that house on the water.

This is..

This is one of the beautiful children travel guides from the fabulous Czech illustrator Miroslav Sasek
"This is Hong Kong" is just one of the many books I own in this series (I want them all..).They were originally published in the 60s.
Hong Kong is one of the most fascinating places I've been to, and even in this over 40 year old book, I still get that Hong Kong feeling
from it. They are timeless, and the things that have changed is summed up in a page in the back of the books.
The series is available in This is... Ireland, Edinburgh, London, New York, Paris, Rome,Venice, Greece..etc etc!

wishlist

I'm really not a sofa person, for rest and relaxation I like it best if I can sit with my back straight on a diningchair. However...I would be easily persuaded to the land of sofa loving people if I could get my hands on one of these mamas! My first true love was Doshi Leviens Charpoy daybeds (top right), and the Asia-inspired Mah Jong lounge (bottom right), designed by Hans Hopfer for Roches Bobois. But if I was to get a ridiculous sum of money today, it would be neck to neck between the funky pumpkin sofa, designed by Pierre Paulin. Or the soft looking Doshi Leviens My beautiful backside (top left).

green/guilty pleasure

I've got a bad addiction. I'm totally obsessed with the tv-show  World's Greenest Homes, with Emmanuel Belliveau. These environmental-conscious people live in so so fabulous houses. The green part is just a bonus, on top of a house tour from another world. Most of the houses are really exciting  and edgy. And the host; cute and sympathetic. Here in Norway, it airs on FEM ("Økohjem i luksusklassen" heter det her).

kitchen necessity

Sriracha sauce is definitely one of the must haves in my fridge, nytimes just wrote a piece on it. Illustrated with a trashy photo from my messy kitchen countertop, after making a pile of wraps in a hurry.

I heart Boylan

What's not to love about this American soda pop, from a company that's still making the real deal. Boylan bottling company, who has been in the business for over a hundred years, still uses pure cane sugar to sweeten their sodas (most others have switched to corn syrup). And the beverage filling these pretty bottles taste like heaven to a sweet tooth like me! My favourite is the ginger ale. Here in Norway they cost as much as a trip to the moon, but in Sweden it's cheap! (Norwegians often cross the border to buy cheap food from the Swedes...it's a strange ritual that I myself find great pleasure in..)

Hello!! How about these easy breezy cargo bikes from Madsen cycles? How can a huge bucket on the back of a bike look this great!?? This would be good for my flea market-bonanzas, I would be able to buy a lot more, and whistle my way back home! yay!!

It's a classic

The stylish and timeless paulistano chair by Paolo Mendes da Rocha, was designed in 1957 as part of the Paulistano Athletic Club in Sao Paolo, his very first masterpiece. De Rocha won the prestigious pritzker award in 2006.

rasberry sorbet

You'll need an ice cream-maker to get the fluff in this one, but otherwise it's super simple!
700g frozen berries (i used a mix of raspberry and blackberry, but anything goes)
350g sugar (u can add more if you like it really sweet)
ca.7 dl of water

put the sugar and berries in a saucepan, add water and let it simmer until the sugar is melted and the berries are soft.
mash it with a hand-mixer, then sift it. Leave it to cool off completely in the fridge.
Pour it into your Ice cream-machine, about ten-fifteen minutes, or until you see it's gotten firm yet mushy like you want it. YUM!!

sound of spring

Anna Jarvinen "Man var bland molnen"
It really is my soundtrack these days. If you don't understand swedish, you just need to know that the lyrics is as beautiful as Annas voice..
